week four

Hey Jenna,

In todays class we looked at photo art.
This was very interesting we went in to the film studio and had play in there, from going in here i was inspired to do...maybe a modern take on maria in west side story...when she is on the ladder singing. but i am unsure at the moment.

in the film studio i took advantage of getting the girls to take photos of me doing some simple ballet moves as dance is my theme throughout.

We then went and had a play in photo shop this was a little challenging as i know i can do lots in photo shop i just forgot what and how to do it since i had not had a play on it in ages lol
i used a picture of my self and chopped it and then pasted it over an other photo to look as if the top half of body is flying.
Im looking forward to doing collage next week as i know i will be able to crop and paste many of my photos of ballet to maybe create the ballet shoe

so im off to go practice photo shop a little more and take some more amazing photos of dancing :)

bye for now

Week Three

Hey Jenna,
So as you know week three we stepped into the world of mobile phone art :)
This was a concept that i was very unfamilar with. I never even realised that mobile phones could produce and be a medium for art.
In today's class we looked at a youtube clip of phone symphony where the artist created a musical using peoples phones in the audience. This visual art really blew my mind, i never thought you could do that with a phone and it would be considered art. I will now not get so annoyed when teenagers on public transport play their music off their phones lol.
We also sync our computers and phones together to make sure we were able to send a recieve images clips off our phone and on top the computer.
I sent images of my family to a from the computer until i started to focus on my theme of dance and passion.
i used pictures i had on my usb to edit on illustrator and then send them to my phone. I really enjoyed sending things to and from my phone. I sent the picture of a ballerina with her leg lifted and then faded the picture and made it black and white and made it faded dreams. I did this because a dream of dancer starts as a young girl but a career only last 10 years professional 15 if your really lucky and you don't get injured. And for a female dancer there is so much competion for jobs, that the dreams to dance really do just become faded.
Bye for now

Week Two

Hey Jenna,
This week we looked at text in art. This was really intresting and has really inspired me to go look up more works by Babra Kruger.
I have finally pick a theme they i plan to use through out my work which is ballet and dance and the emotional and physical pain and joy it brings and the extreme people we go to in this industry to achieve a dream or goal.
Today we worked in illustrator which was a lot of fun and very different. I had never worked in this program before and it became challenging at times to just copy paste. In my work to day i created a symbol that is similar to the Australian Ballet symbol having a B in the center of the page and then dance quotes in a pattern over the top. In the written text i chose important word that helped my message become more dramatic words such as joy, pain and life.
When i go home i plan to continue to work on this idea and also do some more research on artist that use text alot in their works. I also plan to to look at the acmi exabition that looks at film through out time to help me with my ideas.
In this lesson besides learning how to use the new program I also learnt how to burn my pictures to disk.
I am looking forward to next week class to learn more about MACS
Have a great day :)

week one

Hey Jenna,
So this is my first digital art class and first blog to come of many ( well of the eleven weeks I am required to do this)
In this class I hope to become a much better mac user then I am at the current moment. I would like to gain an understanding of digital art have the ability to create some pretty amazing art works.

The artist work that I discovered this week was that of Michael Demers titled " The ghost of Vannevar bush hacked my server"
I really like this artwork because it uses minmal tones to create the picture and create a sense of depth beyond the picture itself.
I really like how the picture has a ghostly feel to it so it ties in with it's title.
